New Car? First Things First

Have you purchased a new vehicle this year? If so, congrats to you. That’s exciting. But first things first!

Let’s make sure you are insured and ready to go!

What is the first thing you should do (or should have done) when purchasing a vehicle?

Make Plans to Update Your Policy

Before you even go to finalize your purchase, whether it is a private purchase or from a dealership, go ahead and map out the time to update your insurance policy.

I know in the excitement of a new car, it can be easy to let some of the details slide, so it is best to pre-plan those things.

Don’t let insurance be the thing that slips your mind!

Call in Update as Soon as Possible

This should be a RIGHT AWAY thing.

If, by some unfortunate incident, you get into an accident within the first day or so of purchasing your new vehicle, you want it to be covered! An “Oops! I forgot to call about the insurance,” could really ruin a day.

As soon as you wrap up the purchase (or even right before), give us a call!

It is a short and simple process, but a totally necessary one that will save you a lot of trouble later on.

Verify Update to Avoid a Lack of Coverage

Always, always double check!

Often, the dealership you purchased from will offer to call and add the vehicle on your behalf; however, there is always a chance of a miscommunication or oversight that results in a lack of coverage.

For that reason, it is always best to call us and verify the update within a day or two of finalizing your purchase.

Know your insurance. If you have any questions or concerns or are unsure of anything in your insurance policy(s), we would be more than happy to go over it/them with you.

As the old adage goes: It is better to be safe than sorry!

Reach Out to Us

If you have purchased a vehicle within the last year or are getting ready to do so, reach out and let us make sure your policy is updated and ready to go. We’ve got you covered!

If you are not insured with us, we would be happy for the opportunity to give you a quote on your auto insurance.
